Why I chose to go to Barnard College?

I chose to go to Barnard after a Welcome Weekend I attended for admitted students. I got a really great flavor for what student life would be like — we attended a Broadway play and then had dinner at restaurant downtown, and then came back uptown for even more events on campus. Even as just a prospective, I felt very much a part of the community, and all the current students I met loved the school. They were all involved in several different activities, and each maintained their own individuality. Columbia has a campus in the middle of New York City, which I loved as you got the best of both worlds. I am so grateful for attending college in NY; access to fantastic internships at places ranging from DKNY to Smith Barney definitely prepared me for life after school.

What Barnard College can offer students, that you won’t read about on its website?

One of the fabulous things Columbia University offers is that its graduate programs are generally unparalleled to any other in the country, and even as an undergrad you can get access to and insight into them. Their business school, architecture school, school of journalism, medical school, etc. have events that undergraduate students can sometimes attend and even take classes at, and you immediately have access to an alumni database in a broad range of industries.
